beautiful
what influenced you the most when transcribing this song because it sounds very haunting.
dennis-
i think the simplicity of the song, with the harmonic progression identical yet discreet between verse and refrain gives it an inevitability and at the same time a passacaglia-like circularity. it inspires a kind of variation style that you might hear in a chaconne.
i'm trying to work on another song now and i still can't get 'the rip' out of my head. i'll be making a video of it for NPR's website when we do our show at aspen in early august.
best,
chris

Being a fan for quite some time I have to say this is one of my favorite pieces. Almost like slowly free falling!
wes-

I have listened to your work since i heard that someone was making radiohead covers just in piano. I always liked the piano.
I think this version of The rip is amazing, there is such a melody but also to the end it gains tension. A great feeling.
I loved this version, maybe even more than the original.
Greetings from Argentina, i think if you come here someday you'll have quite a public.
PD: It would be interesting to cover something about Smashing Pumpkins, Blank Page or something like that.
gaston-
thank you so much for your very encouraging letter. i'm very glad you've enjoyed 'the rip' as i've done it on piano. i have made a studio recording of that song, and with another bunch of songs by a lot of bands (a dozen tracks), i have a record which we're just now putting into shape for release, deciding how best to roll it out; videos too!
it would be a dream to come to argentina, as i have played many concerts w/pablo ziegler, the wonderful pianist of astor piazzolla's new tango quintet for many years. even my son, conor, has visited buenos aires, staying with school friends from new york over a vacation. and i've not yet seen buenos aires except on film!
if you know anyone who is expert in presenting concerts in argentina, please have them contact me.
i look forward to greeting you warmly in your home country soon!.
best wishes,
christopher
